For the Love of Sloane is another Lil’ Rhody four-piece we sure know how to make ‘em, don’t we?). Their alternative rock stylings reveal traces of a slightly toned-down Paramore, especially in the song “Bitter”, which was released last May as an EP. Keep an eye out for their first full-length, currently in progress and set to be finished this fall.

For the Love of Sloane packs a powerful punch upon first listen, and delivers even more in person. Together on stage, there's a great camaraderie and level of performance that's refreshing. Rocking riffs, powerful vocals and strong steel strings, FTLOS makes you sit up and take notice. Their musical stylings are stem across indie, punk, and rock, defying limits of classification for their blend of influences. This is a fiercely talented foursome that leaves you wanting more. And we definitely will book them again, and often.

FOR THE LOVE OF SLOANE (fortheloveofsloane.com, myspace.com/fortheloveofsloane) serves straight-up guitar rock complemented by the harmonious hooks from lead singer Elese Morrone, and their debut EP Bitter (available on iTunes) showcases the quartet's chops on "Dig Deeper," and "Parking Lot," and the title track deserves some airplay regardless of the outcome. "We are treating this show like a big deal, because it is, and we realize this could open some big doors for us," Morrone said. "And meeting new fans is always great too. The more exposure we can get the more ears we can reach."

They are one of the best live acts around! I had a last minute cancellation at a show my company was producing. I received an email from Jay Jefferson, the band’s drummer, letting me know FTLOS was available for the date. With less than 2 weeks from the time he emailed me to the show, they were able to bring a large draw, and helped promote the event as well. They are by far the most talented and hard working band I have come across in ages. Their music is original and incredible. They played two covers as well at our show, and the entire audience was singing along. To put it simply: For the Love of Sloane ROCKS! I am forwarding this message on to Jay, and I have let him know that he should feel free to use my words as a reference, and that I can be contacted at any time should anyone have questions. To whomever reads this, I can assure you that your venue has not seen its full potential until you have had FTLOS play there!

For the Love of Sloane, the final band of the night, seemed to steal the show. Not only did their songs have some great hooks, but the lead singer (who looked a little like Liv Tyler) could really sing. She may not have used her range as much as she could have, but her voice was still one of the band’s best aspects (complemented well by the music being played by the band, of course). Apparently, the crowd and the judges were also smitten with this act. Though it was surely a tough choice with such different bands being pitted against each other, For the Love of Sloane won this Semi-Finals show and are now headed to the Rock Hunt Finals April 4th at Lupo’s. They’ll be matched up against last week’s winners Baylock and The [Viennagram:] and Saturday night’s winner Fairhaven. Stay tuned for more info on the Finals show!

For the Love of Sloane came out next with a collection of their well-established hits, uniquely coming out of the Paramore stereotype given to female-vocal-driven bands—and while there is a similarity, it’s not a bad thing. They pleased the crowd with “Dig Deeper”, one of the local music songs that I think everyone has heard at least once. And yeah—it’s catchy. It’s one of the songs that—had I been graced with the voice of the fairer sex, or just a decent voice—I would probably catch myself singing more than a few times.

Next to the stage was For the Love of Sloane, once they took to the stage I understood why almost every chick in the place was wearing a stylized heart T-shirt. Rocking hard and getting the crowd pumped, I was quite impressed with the power of the lead vocals from front-woman Elese. I enjoyed their set even while not familiar with their volume of work and will be checking out more of their stuff as I get more time.

For the Love of Sloane (myspace.com/fortheloveof sloane) is just a few tweaks away from something really big. Songs such as "So What If" and "Bitter" and their set opener, "Drying Blue," show promise for Elese Morrone and crew. In terms of merch sales, FTLOS dominated, with fans sporting their shirts all over Lupo's, including Morrone's grandpa, wearing a purple Glo-necklace and black FTLOS tee. Nice. The female vocals and big power-pop hooks remind me of last year's victor, It Was the Best of Times (whose guitarist Bob Jack reports the band just returned from recording their debut full-length in Detroit), and though For the Love of Sloane understandably showed some nerves, there's no denying the band's songwriting ability.

The third band, For the Love of Sloane, was a four-piece group that was definitely for love! They had extremely upbeat, melodic tunes that instantly stuck in your memory. Their music consisted of alternative rock styles with a female vocalist that instructed your ears like a conductor and made you not want to leave. Smooth, energetic tunes and dramatic verses ensued.
